If you're a retiring estate planner with clients you've looked after for years -this is the handover you've been waiting for.
You've spent decades building trust with families who rely on you to safeguard their wills, their wishes and their legacies. Retirement shouldn't mean leaving them stranded. We give you a way to step back knowing your clients will continue to be looked after by practitioners who take that responsibility as seriously as you have.

What we've seen too many times
Estate planners and will writers who reach retirement age face a problem that nobody in the profession talks about openly. The business has value - a loyal client base, stored documents, recurring relationships built over decades. But there's no obvious buyer. No succession plan. No clean way out.
The result is clients who become orphaned. Documents stored in filing cabinets with no one responsible for them. A lifetime of professional relationships that simply dissolve.
We think that's wrong. And we've built something that makes it unnecessary.
Who we are
Inheritance Made Simple is part of a specialist estate planning group with nearly three decades of experience in will writing, inheritance tax planning, lasting powers of attorney and document storage. We operate a modern digital platform that allows us to scan, store and manage will documents and client records at scale - with the infrastructure to take on established books and manage them properly for the long term.
We are not a consolidator looking to strip value. We are practitioners who understand what these client relationships mean - and who have built the systems to honour them.
Two ways we can work with you
Equal weight. Equal merit. Choose what fits the life you want next.
Full Acquisition
We purchase your business outright. Client relationships, stored documents, goodwill and any associated assets transfer to us. You receive a clean payment and a complete exit on terms that work for you.
What this means in practice
- A fair valuation based on client numbers, document volume and revenue history
- A structured handover period so clients experience continuity, not disruption
- Your professional legacy protected - clients remain in expert hands
- A clean exit with no ongoing obligations unless you want them
This suits estate planners who want a defined end point and a lump sum that reflects what they've built.
Revenue Share Arrangement
We take your client book into our platform and manage it on your behalf. You receive a royalty from the income generated by your former clients - renewals, amendments, storage fees, new instructions - for as long as those clients remain on the platform.
What this means in practice
- No upfront sale required - your book retains its value and generates ongoing income
- Your clients are managed on a modern platform with professional oversight
- You step back from the operational responsibility entirely
- Income continues without you needing to do anything further
This suits estate planners who want to exit the work without walking away from the income stream they've spent years building.
"Your clients trusted you with something irreplaceable. We'll make sure that trust is honoured.
What happens to the documents
Every document we acquire is scanned, digitised and stored on our secure platform. Physical originals are held in accordance with professional standards. Clients are notified of the transfer in writing, with a warm introduction that maintains trust and continuity.
The platform allows us to manage will reviews, amendments, storage notifications and new instructions without any involvement from you - unless you choose to remain available in an advisory capacity during the transition period.
Who we're looking for
We're interested in speaking with estate planners and will writers who:
- Are approaching retirement or already semi-retired
- Have an established client base of stored wills and associated documents
- Want their clients to continue being looked after properly
- Have no obvious internal succession and are open to an external solution
- Are prepared to have a confidential, no-obligation conversation about their options
There is no minimum or maximum book size. We are interested in sole practitioners with a hundred clients and established practices with several thousand.
How the conversation starts
There is no form to complete and no obligation attached to making contact. We ask only that you tell us a little about your practice - client numbers, how long you've been operating, and what kind of exit you're considering.
From there we will arrange a confidential call at a time that suits you. Nothing is committed on either side until you decide you want it to be.
We treat every enquiry with complete confidentiality. We will not contact you again after an initial response unless you invite us to.
